Trades and Construction Training for Youth 16-29

When you hire Impact Construction, you are providing opportunities for local youth to apply their skills and gain experience.

We employ and support young people in need of training and skills as part of the project delivery process, driving real impact for our partners and community.

Youth receive in-class and on-the-job training in construction and life skills, and receive certifications in Standard First Aid, Fall Protection, WHMIS, LEAN, and Asbestos and Mould Remediation.

Our youth are guided by skilled mentors that train on the job and provide guidance that ensures the job gets done.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • To be eligible for our supportive training programs, you must be 16 to 29 and a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador. Unfortunately, those receiving EI are not eligible for this opportunity.

  • Contact us via phone or email and we will add you to the waitlist for the next available program.

  • Trainees will receive certifications in Standard First Aid, Fall Protection, Asbestos and Mould Abatement and WHMIS. Additional certifications may be provided depending on availability and training schedule.

  • To enter our waitlist we’ll only need current contact information. To engage in training we’ll need your Social Insurance Number, but we’ll even help you apply for that if you don’t have one!

  • There is absolutely no experience required to enter into our program! We will provide all the necessary skills and certifications needed to confidently enter onto a jobsite. However, we do want to hear about any relevant experience you might have in your interview. This can be any work you’ve done, paid or unpaid. Everything from working for a contractor to helping your uncle build a shed!

  • Recruitment is ongoing. Apply now to enter our waitlist and keep an eye on our social media for our next available training program.

  • Programs vary in length and time commitment but generally range from 3-4 weeks, approx. 30 hours per week

  • Our homebase is at 117 Ropewalk Lane. Any transportation for offsite training is provided.

  • Programs are offered as needed with an average start every two months.

  • Participants that successfully complete a training program will be eligible to apply for supportive employment with Impact Construction.
